Back to revisiting some older work but looking at it through new eyes. This was a fun day working with Tinka as she was filming for her new Reality TV show. Tinka now lives in L.A. nyc’s loss and L.A.’s gain. As the infamous Humphrey Bogart once said. “here’s looking at you kid!!”.

Revisiting old work
Revisiting old work can be an interesting proposition. It can show you how far you’ve come in your craft or changes in style you weren’t even aware of. Or sometimes you can just add something you hadn’t even thought of from year ago. Either way checking back in your archives every now and then can reveal a jewel or two.
Sisters – cont. shooting twins is twice the fun
There are many kinds of sisters for me some of the more interesting sisters to shoot are twin sisters. They not just look alike but know what the other is thinking via that twin sibling 6th sense bond that most of us do not know of. Very cool… thank you Elizabeth and Catherine!!! Bisous!!
Sisters – Always a winning recipe for a great shoot
Many years ago before I decided to become a photographer or even owned a camera for that matter. I was always struck by the natural beauty and chemistry of sisters and mothers and daughters. Since then I never pass up an opportunity to shoot one or the other given the chance. As seen above there is a tangible feeling one gets from the feminine bond. It is remarkable to my eyes drawing one further into the image as it presents a natural curiosity about the pair. Thank you Mollie and Liza!!
Jack Baxter – Award Winning Film Maker and Suicide Bomber Survivor
I met Jack and his lovely and brilliant wife Fran several years ago. It’s been a privileged friendship for me to have. I always wanted to have Jack over for a shoot but hey it’s nyc and things come up and that’s how it is best intensions aside. Last week Jack and I were finally able to connect and make this happen. As the title suggests Jack is an award winning international film maker and survivor of a terrorist suicide bomber attack. Jack’s documentary “Blues by the Beach” is a stunning and all too real look at the evil the world is capable of by evil people set on destruction, murder and mayhem.
Unknowingly while Jack was filming his documentary at a Blue’s bar “Mikes Place” in Tel Aviv, Israel two radical islamic suicide bombers from London had snuck into Israel to martyr themselves. They discovered and later decided to target Jack and the patrons of Mikes Place for the simple reason that Jack was there filming and it would create more international terror. What they didn’t know one of the reasons Jack was filming at Mike’s Place was to show everyday normal Christians, Jews and Arabs all got along just fine, thank you very much while enjoying listening to the blue’s on a beautiful Tel Aviv beach. Then the unthinkable happened and turned Jacks documentary into something else entirely. It was horrifying and tragic though I won’t give anymore away than I already have. You need to watch Jack’s documentary “Blues by the Beach“. This is no fluff piece or “reenactment” this is actual footage of what happened. Jack himself was blown through a full glass pane window from the force of the blast and laid in a coma for a week.
This powerful documentary will most likely change how and what you think about these terrible events we watch on our TV’s many thousands of miles away but don’t let that scare you. Being aware of what these events actually are and the real life consequences of them is what makes all of us better, better persons, better American’s and better able to change our world so these horrible events cease being apart of our daily life’s. Importantly it’s also a story about one man’s determination and character to not just survive and overcome grievous injury but to take this fight back to those who brought this harm to himself and so many innocents through the United Nations itself!!
Why this Photograph is worth $576,000
Wanted to share a great article by David Cohen de Laura http://www.petapixel.com/2012/03/20/why-this-photograph-is-worth-578500/ I read recently on Peta Pixel www.petapixel.com. The world of fine art is confusing in general and now with fine art photography gaining such momentum as I experienced at my own show at Art Expo this past week at Pier 92. I thought it worth while to begin to post easy to understand and important common sense opinions and information about photography as fine art. The value and money paid for these works are staggering but more easily understood by educating our selfs on the why.
Burano, Italy “Fishing Village”
Sometimes revisiting past work provides needed inspiration. I remember the day, the sun on my face, the fresh cooked fish and cold delicious Italian beer. I don’t know about you but I’m certainly inspired just thinking about it!!
